Field-Tested by Rosecrans Baldwin
in Woodstock, New York
I found Uncivil Seasons, the first volume in Michael Malone’s Justin Savile and Cuddy Mangum Series, in a mystery bookstore in Greenwich Village, finished it in two days, and then promptly bought the second and third installments. I read them both in Woodstock, New York, the weekend that I proposed to my girlfriend. After all, when you’re in love, tucked away in a small house in the woods with the woman of your life, what better to do than read? Extremely well written with sharp observations, gorgeous story, and plenty of local snap.
Rosecrans Baldwin is a founding editor of The Morning News where he writes the Letters from Paris column. His stories have elsewhere appeared in the New York Times, The Nation, and on NPR's "All Things Considered."
